Fitness and Nutrition
This program focuses on including all levels of fitness, regardless of ability, and mobility. Living a healthy lifestyle is taught through a variety of cardio and weight training methods in our in-house fully equipped gym, including the treadmill, elliptical, stationary bikes, weight lifting machines, hand weights, yoga mats, and resistance bands. Our fitness program includes light weight training, cardiovascular exercises, dance, relaxation exercises and stretching. The Fitness program also attends a weekly Bootcamp session, with a certified Personal Trainer and variety of gym equipment, along with swimming classes at our local community centre doing Aqua Fitness with an instructor.
Healthy living and nutrition awareness are also included in the Fitness and Nutrition program here at Alternatives. The nutrition aspect of the fitness program promotes and teaches how and why it is important to be living a healthy lifestyle. We offer weight management, including monthly weigh-in sessions; review, follow and practice the Canadian food guide, learn portion control, and research and create healthy recipes in-house.
